Massive Announcement!! It's HUGE! and You are INVITED!!!

We've waited patiently all year, did some planning and some laundry all in preparation for the biggest announcement of the year.

BIRTHDAY WEEK IS HERE!

 

How lucky are we to celebrate our birthdays within a day of each other. How "fortunate" for our families to be a part of a whole week of birthday lovin'!

We may have gone a little overboard this year and we want you to join us.

All the things we've decided to do are things we personally love.

So mark your calenders, plan your week around one, two or ALL of our Birthday Week Activities.

Monday - August 4 - private dinner with family + Nadia's Day

Tuesday - August 5 (6:30 pm until 9:00 pm)

Choose a piece of unfired green ware. Paint it, glaze it and they will fire it for us!

Personalize something for your studio, garden or home.

Cost : $6 per person for firing + price of green-ware

Afterwords we plan to stop for Tea at Cargo and James a few doors down from the Ceramic Studio!

Wednesday - August 6 Laurie's Day! ( 6-9 pm)

Treasured Memories Class

ok..this is cool...with Jill's help (she's the tall modelesque employee..) we designed a mini book class featuring the black board books from Cosmo Cricketand lots of funky colored Hamblypapers, rub ons and more! No one else will ever get this class..it is just for us!

Bring your basic tool kit, adhesive+ pencil crayons.

Finger food and Birthday cake will be served

Cost: $20-$25 and includes all of your supplies and food!

Mamma Mia!! Total fun singing along to ABBA!..Laurie knows all the songs and as much as she would like to have us all dress up...no costume required

Friday August 8 (2PM - 4PM)

Pedicures at Kool Nails

This is a drop in nail salon on Whyte ave that does a very nice pedicure for $40. 

We both love pretty feet! We will be there at 2pm, basic pedicures are about 30-40 min.

early morning taping, art day and a little doc-u-ment 31

woo hoo to chantel!  this morning laurie and I were up bright and early to support treasured memories. tune in next monday and see all the fun!

   art day was in full force today!  we are painting up a storm and coming up with a fabulous project for august!  I don't want to give too much away, but it will be filled with canvas, paint, paper, sewing and CAKE!  that was a hint!  hee hee!

time well wasted...

friday laurieand I had an impromptu art day. we were working on the calendar for the next three months and all of the sudden "creative burst". everything was pushed aside and the sketching began. as you can see by the photo. we were knee deep in creative juice.

and starbucks! hee hee! thanks to our official photographer - morgan aka my supercalafragalistic godson.

saturday we were both at treasured memoriesteaching our "canvas connections" class to an amazing group of ladies! paint flying and laughter all around.

 

holla to diane, eva, karen, carla, ann marie, cindy and shari! we had a blast ladies!

doc 31, day 10, 11, 12 & 13

  july 10 went for a bike ride with a friend and took this picture while riding behind her.  great shot of the trails that I frequent.  I used a sticker on the left and then I printed a quote on a 4 X 6 transparency.  it has a little border around it and I wanted to see if I printed it on the computer how it would work.  I created a document in word and made the page size 4 X 6.  entered my text and then loaded the transparency in the photo tray.  it worked!  the only thing was it took forever to dry! 

  july 11 and what I like to call conversations with my 17 year old.  occasionally I ask danny if he has heard of a certain band or a certain song.  quite often he has and in his eyes it either sucks or hey its cool ma!  on this particular day I was asking him about the yeah, yeah, yeahs and he jumped and ran downstairs to grab their cd and many more.  "ya got some homework to do ma" he said.  I guess the eagles are so 1970's?  I used a calendar page to highlight the date and then scrapbook paper for the photo and some thickers for the title along with some stickers.  I used a post it note that came in the kit for the journaling.

  july 12 and we are back on the bike.  this time for a 40 km ride and I took the picture while riding again.  this is a route where we start many of our runs and so I was happy to document this.  I found a quote by albert einstein and used stamps to stamp it on some scrapbook paper.  I used the glaze pen for the bicycle word.

    july 13 and I decided to document my obsession with calendars.  I have five calendars and laurie always bugs me about the fact that I have the same thing written down five times.  does it help me?  it helps me to procrastinate about doing what I should be doing when I am instead wasting time writing it down AGAIN!  LOL!  I printed my photos up in five square layout and then added the square with the title.  the opposite page I stamped the date and lines for my journaling.

hope you are enjoying the month so far.  we are almost half way there and if you are just starting that is fine!  I have been having a lot of fun taking pictures of things that are a part of my life and am happy to have it all documented in one place.  I will be able to look back at this and see what was going on in my life at the time.  have fun this week!  we would love to see some pics of your books!

doc-u-ment 31

  july 8 brings laundry and how I love hanging laundry out on the line.  the smell and freshness remind me of when my mom used to hang laundry outside to dry.  I used the flip side of the library card using stamps, pen and dymo label and the other page I used the photo and wrote on it with a calligraphic nib and ink.

I surpised myself when I printed this photo.  I was walking around the back yard looking for something to photograph and decided on the blooming english daisies.  imagine my surprise when I came across a bee!  I am so scared of bees, but I held my ground, took the picture and ran like hell!  I love the detail in the photo and decided to have black & white for the background photo and then a square of photo in color over top.  the journaling page I added rub-ons and stickers.

Sunday's Synopsis

Sitting here eating my new favorite snack.  If I chew on my left side all is tasty and good with the new Weight Watcher pretzels I picked up. Yup still issues going on in my mouth but these are so thin and salty and....well I am craving crunch..Did I forget to mention they are being joined with a beer and tomato juice? Life is good!

Spent some moola  in the past couple days and was totally feeling loved as my one and only came home to hang with the family for the weekend. He goes back to FT Mac Monday so am really enjoying the weekend. So far it has been filled with shopping, ice cream and those pretzels.

Even better? I am totally on track with doc 31~~!! (Totally just jinxed myself ) For the first time I am on the date I am supposed to be. See...it can be done!

Documenting and keeping up to Nadia is hard work!

I will be the first to admit that I am running  about 2 days behind in making my pages BUT, have no fear... I do have all my pictures taken!  I dunno if my days are as exciting as some of yours as I keep finding myself in the same places day after day....can you say...dentist? OMG.. You gotta just laugh it off some days!

I kinda like this one though!

random deep thoughts through the windshield. I was really just making this out of what ever garbage I had thrown in a drawer. Really some random things including a piece of measuring tape and some product packaging that missed the garbage can.

I do have a couple more pages done but will save them for now. Tomorrow I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will not be a rain day so my troupe and I  will be able to make it to the Edmonton Art Walk on Whyte Ave. A free activity and full of cool inspiration!

pages to share from the weekend.  I spent some quality time observing my puppies...

  day 5 brings us max and max loves his ball.  I had to take about five photos before I had this perfect shot, but it was worth it.  it shows his focus and how he brings you the ball, guards it with his life and does not let you touch it.  we are working on it!  he is twelve!  LOL!  I used some stickers, brads to attach the phrases I printed out from the computer, chipboard "m".

day 6 allow me to introduce sparky.  the other dog who is eleven.  sparky has a favorite spot in the studio and it is the closet.  if the door is not open he will stand there looking at laurie till she opens it and then he lays there - relaxed.  I think he also finds it very cool in there!

I used pattern paper for the page and added a chipboard letter covered in another patterned paper.  I also added a heart charm as I punched the hole in the wrong place!  "there are no accidents, I say.  only embellishment opportunities!"

today's page is complete!  I was fixing my breakfast and decided to "document" my first taste of almond milk as a replacement for regular milk.  oooohhh, exciting!  LOL!  I had fresh strawberries, pineapple and blueberries.  such beautiful colors.  granola and almond milk.  since I stopped eating gluten and dairy I have been feeling 100% better and today's new breakfast idea was one that I was missing.  a simple bowl of fruit and granola with milk or yogurt.  almond milk is a hit!  yay!

I printed up tiny photos on my photo printer and used the dymo labeller to add the date and title.  the opposite page is a library card.  who says you can't have things sticking up and out?  go for it!  

hope you are having fun with the challenge!  one week in and it has been interesting trying to pick what I want to take a picture of and what to write about.  all about discovering and preserving our lives.  love that!
