So I missed the entire month of May. I wasn’t sick or away on some tremendous holiday I was just extremely busy handling life.
It kinda all began with that week off that turned out not to be such a week off…
First it involved painting and redecorating the DC’s private office.

Then my mommy came to Edmonton.

Then my favourite boy in the whole world came home from his 3 months of hell away from his mother.

We are so unbelievably proud of this 16 yr old. He came home speaking fluently enough to be told his Grade 12, 30 level French class was no longer the right place for him. Not bad for a kid not ever in an immersion program!
He speaks…oh be still my heart…with such ease and confidence.
Now….here is where you insert into the month of May 2 birthdays- 2 days apart, 2 Mothers Day celebrations, lots of lunches and dinners out and massive amounts of chauffeuring the boy who felt his social life had been deprived while in Quebec.
The best part was that Gram came to be with us. We….(ok I beaded ONCE) worked on a large order of bracelets for summer, weeded and pruned the things I normally would have pulled and discarded and even worked a day job.
It was a very busy month and it ended with a very large dramatic bang. A very dear friend had a crisis. A nightmare all us mothers never want to experience. Her 19yr old daughter, over the course of 16 hours became unresponsive and fell into an unexplained coma. 48hrs later it was established that it was a rare form of encephalitis probably brought on by a childhood infection. It was scary. Heartbreaking. Scary. After 5 days in ICU she woke to a room filled with love. She is home now and on the road to a full recovery.
It has been a challenging last 3 weeks. We all learned who we can count on in a crisis to get us to where we need to be. I needed to be with this mom and this sweet girl, and my work, in a very difficult time of transition allowed me to do that. I am grateful to every one who helped me ….beyond belief.
Thank you.
