TANGIBLE

T Minus 7 Days and Counting

This time next week I will be lying in my big ol comfy bed in our new house. How freakin excited are we you ask?? Can't quite put it into words.

The house is at about 80% packed. Just food and odds n ends really.  This past weekend I cooked a smallish turkey I found in the freezer, we have been on a Tryptophan high for the last few days. So good. Turkey dinner is just another way to say " I love you".

Good stuff has been rolling my way. Found 6 brand- new -totally rockin chairs at Salvation Army last Friday. So nice you would not believe it and all for the low low price of $68.00 for all six! Ready to paint...or not cause they really are that nice.

Salvation Army, especially the antique/furniture one in Capilano is becoming my home away from home. I stop there about 2x a week. Even picked up Sarah's new bed there. Hello?? You want $400.00 for this brand new- in plastic- double mattress set that I saw for $1700 at Sears?? Sold!

To top off all my good things...6 days off. In a row!!! Lots n lots of work got done and so did a movie, a couple lunches and shopping. Good times.

Tomorrow I am back at work but it will be a very short week. I will survive.

Killer Dust Bunnies

Packing! The weekends are currently filled with the sounds and smells of packing. Boxes are being assembled and dust is flying! How the hell this much stuff has accumulate in this tiny house, I will never know. and...why is everything so darn dusty? Morgan and I are really suffering. We are both sneezing and wheezing versions of our former selves.

This week saw the arrival of a storage bin that we have started filling with what Dwayne has deemed necessary from his garage and the contents of the studio. The heaviest of the heavy shit has now been packed. The Studio is EMPTY! The Garage is EMPTY! Now this week my goal is the storage room filled with board games and photo albums...and the biggest dust bunnies you have every seen. A mask may be necessary.

On a completely different note and to prove I am not the biggest bitch on the face of the earth...I gave the family brief respite a few times this weekend to take a couple of side trips. Sat was my first visit to the City Center Farmers Market and I have to say....It is my favorite of all the Farmers Markets I've been to. So nice to walk out in the open air and not feel crowded or pushed and shoved. I think it was 4 blocks or so of really interesting vendors I hadn't seen before. I will definitely go back next Saturday and try to work in a brunch at Blue Plate Diner to thank the packing crew!

If It's Not One Thing..It's Your Mother!

This past weekend was AWESOME!!! Don't tell Dwayne. I don't want to ruin the surprise...but..his garage is empty. And by empty... I mean DESOLATE. We had over 200 people come to the sale and at one point there was a line up 10 people deep to pay with about 50 others "shopping" With every person who walked off with a super deal..I could feel the weight literally lifting off my shoulders. The 5 of us did a twirl and high fived each other at the end of the day. We all reached our personal goals of de-cluttering and simplifying our lives.

Not to give people the wrong impression but I love the people in my life not my things. To all out there who feel the need to fill your closets and cupboards with stuff...go right ahead. No really! All the power to you! If it works for you go for it. Me..not so much. I want my baggage to be light and for the things I truly care about to be well loved.  Probably something I learned from my mother. We used the good china every day. She even lent me her engagement and wedding rings to wear when I was a teen.  

I do have the occasional piece of "baggage" though. Those things that really don't contribute to your life, they're really just an indicator of not being able to just let go. A couple of weeks ago I set free a big ol stuffed frog. If you knew my sister...you know the one. I passed it on. I don't need it and it didn't need me. Even better is the feeling of having no regrets. If my mother had been here she wouldn't have batted an eye. Without saying a word she would have just understood.
