I can dream can't I ? Today I am on Carla's team. She rocks. No ego just quietly goes about cooking with fantastic skill. If I was to really fantasize though I would also really like to cook with Ramsey on the F-Word. or at the VERY least be in the dining room...sitting next to Sharon Osborne.. I really don't think he is the royal ass-hole he appears to be on Hells Kitchen.

Have you seen that cooking show based in the UK where this couple goes out and cooks what they can kill, catch or harvest? All out of a tent! Cool..too bad I can't remember the name..

In other News...

Tonight I self diagnosed myself with a repeat attack of gastritis. Took my pills and it went away. Where the hell is my degree?

0 to 60..

Apparently I am still having trouble being as awake as I want to be. This morning after the "Little's" left for the bus, I ate this...

toasted warm pita, scrambled egg and 1/4 tomato

or really I should say I ate about 4 bites of this...then fell asleep sitting up. (Diane you can stop laughing right about now..) None of this would have been a problem if:

a) I was dressed and ready for the day..but I wasn't..

b) if the phone had woken me up..but it didn't.

c) I was awake to be on time to pick up Morgan from school at 9:45... d) got him to his orthodontist appt on time...we were late.

I woke up at 10:06 and immediately was running. No time for pretty hair or makeup. Called the dentist to see if they would still take him. Then the school to have them tell Morgan I was still coming (thank you madam secretary for letting me know he had been there for over 30 min... waiting.)

Somehow we got to the Dentist at 10:30...ugh..

I HATE having to move that fast without lights and sirens!

On another note

Can I just say...I hate these....

These two baskets carry about 20% of my writing tools and they are stuffed. I have a dream of finding a long box that will fit holders where I can sort by pen type and have them sitting in a long beautiful line on my now 18 feet of work space.

Does this exist?

Tomorrow I go to Ikea to look..

Hello Tuesday!

Calligraphy was a no go today as my sweet boy woke up with the "icks". So it was a day of soup and popsicle service. Currently he is sleeping in my bed, or what he refers to as "The Most Comfortable Place on Earth". At least twice a month he tries to convince us that we should really buy a new bed and give the old one to him. Poor boy, we tell him to get a job and buy his own...

Seeing how I was doing less than nothing, I managed to post on the Lost & Found blog some of the happiness we've been given this month. Go see!

The studio is coming along. Looks more of a disaster than it really is! Diane came over during the long weekend and turned into a sorting phenom. We got rid of 2 large iris carts that I had customized to have about 8-10 drawers each. They held tons of paint and different mediums. Kinda nice to go through them all as I found all my encaustic supplies and think I may give it a go again, this time on canvas.

The room looks huge! All that is left is to pick up the bookcases and find some pen storage for my 2000 writing tools...As I looked around the room I realized I probably have room to seat 5/6 now and it has made me go hmm...I wonder if it is time to start a real life Art Posse. Just a small group of like minded people who would be willing to take turns sharing what they know about mixed media and paper arts. We could meet once a month either in my studio or someplace else. It would definitely give me some inspiration to be around different styles of media.

Before you start chasing unicorns..this would be a much smaller scale than the days of the PMS Stamp club! If you are interested drop me an e-mail!

Best Friends. They've been close ever since they met in kindergarten. Stayed buddies through about 6 moves and 4 new schools. There was even a terrible horrible golfing accident where Morgan held the club and Bryant met it with his face. These boys, when they are together, speak a secret language that makes my heart glad to be a witness.

Back on Track

Saturday was fun. Anam, Lily and Diane came over and I was able to witness the kinetic energy that is Anam's creative flow. At some point I mentioned to her that she should have 2 or 3 canvas' on the go so while one dries the others get to play. Ok..I think her count was 5? AND...all done in a space no larger than a deck of cards! LOL. Officially someone I can relate to. A kindered soul who also needs to be surrounded by well....EVERYTHING!

Diane of course was her well organized self and pumped out about a zillion cards. Amazing to see..

 

Monday an Tuesday..well  they were barely blips on the radar. No studio time just back to the Hospital for a check up ( all is good) and then off to Calligraphy class Tuesday afternoon.

Today saw a coffee date with my favourite little's complete with coffee cake to help celebrate Interim report happiness.

Tomorrow the real work starts.

To express my undying gratitude you will get to go through my drawers and have first dibs in the " Good Gawd..you have 6 of these box" There will be books and Magazines and Stamps and paper and and...well a ton of stuff to be sorted and given the tough love goodbye.

I'd love the help as it is always more fun to laugh through your tears..grin

I Wanna Be a Rock Star!

 

 

Sarah some how managed a true sibling "in your face" Some how,..none of us are too sure how..she managed to change her semester 2 around and talked to all the "right people" and is now taking guitar. Morgan is only slightly envious. He has been asking to take lessons for about 3 years and I had agreed..he just had to purchase his own guitar. Somehow that never happened. Now the ultimate betrayal...his sister gets a guitar..

In other news...I am now on soft/solid food. Hello cottage cheese and scrambled eggs. Hey there! I am happy to be chewing! Pain is also getting better and better. Those who love me can hardly wait till I throw away my yoga pants though...

Did some Calligraphy...

Made a complete mess of it though when I tried to do a layer of words in ink over top of the double lined letters...It was looking cool until then...

Tomorrow am hanging out with Anam and perhaps Diane if she can drag herself away. If she doesn't, I know the curiosity will kill her...grin..

One Step at a Time.

This weekend I finally made it downstairs...(there are a lot of stairs.. at least 15!) My first goal was just to make it down the stairs, my next was to try and sit for as long as I could and try and hold a pen. Sounds simple but at the moment holding my arms above my waist to even type kills my back. But I was smart...I took my 1 litre bottle of liquid love with me and had a shot once I got into the studio. I was a week behind in my Calligraphy class so needed to make an attempt at the homework and see if sitting was going to be possible. All was good. Homework was completed, practice happened and I even managed to sit for about 2 hours. Now I know I can do the class this week. As long as Nadia drives as I plan to be stoned..makes for interesting Calligraphy!

It all went so well this weekend Nadia and I even attempted a studio day. She let me take it slow and we even got accomplished what needed to get done. I managed to even take a few pics of that orange piece I did before surgery.

 

I love it. It has texture and I used so many different mediums that I have not tried before. Nadia had inspired me to try some heavy molding paste. I love the way it picked up the yellows and browns just seems to give it weight. Throw all that in with some more acrylic and oil pastels...sigh..Eventually it will grace the hallway along with an assortment of other canvas's I have painted over the last few years. Slowly getting used to the idea of hanging my own stuff in my own house!

This is the other piece I finished a couple weeks ago and will hang in my kitchen.

I have trouble remembering to take my vitamins and once again girl wonder made a suggestion to paint something to help remind me. Took a long time to figure out where to go with it but now that it is finis...I think it will definitely do the job!
